DO IT YOURSELF To get January Jones' toned-down look, boost volume and texture by backcombing the front section of your hair with a tail comb. Smooth the sides, and pull all of the hair into a low, tight ponytail. Tidy any strays with the comb, and lock the style in place with a shot of Bumble and bumble Extra Strength Holding Spray.

She created this softly sexy updo for Melrose Place actress Katie Cassidy by working volumizer and styling cream through damp hair to add texture and thickness. After curling the hair with hot rollers or an iron, spritz with lightweight hairspray for extra shine and hold.

I’ve been blow drying my own hair since about 12-14 years old. My mother is a hairdresser so my first hair dryer was one of her cast offs. I had that thing until it literally was blowing smoke and shorted out. Since then I’ve changed a few of them.

But how can you know it’s time to get a new one?

The answer is simple! If at least one of the signs below applies to YOUR hair dryer, it definitely needs an upgrade!

You can’t remember when you bought it.

It takes you twice as long to dry your hair then it used to.

Summer Hair Tips from Kerastase!

Gelee_aqua_proof.jpgSummer is upon us! Hurrah! When the weather gets balmy, it's easy to forget about your hair (most people become obsessive about SPF, right? RIGHT??? :)) Anyway, with that in mind, I got some easy/great tips from the folks at Kerastase...

1. Be bold! Slick your hair back in a low tight ponytail with a UV creme, like our Creme UV Defense (which has a double UV filter).
2. Be proactive! Before taking a dip in the pool or ocean, apply a product like Gelee Aqua Proof to protect your hair from harmful damage of chlorine or salt water.
3. Sleep easy! In the evening, use a deep conditioner like Brume Nuit to replenish your hair as your night careafter exposing your hair to the summer elements.
4. Be smart! "Get your hair trimmed every four to six weeks to prevent split ends or damage to your hair.
