Dedicated Obsession du Jour: Bumble and bumble

As a wise lyricist once wrote, summertime is all about easy living. While the song obviously wasn't referring to our beauty habits, we try to apply this sage sentiment to said routine anyway. After all, who wants to waste a sunny afternoon stuck in the bathroom, fussing with frizzy, fried, or flat hair? Not us! In our quest to find the perfect products to help us streamline and simplify our summer styling process, we discovered that Bumble and bumble has all the answers. They've created amazing solutions for all your hair care problems, so try a few of our favorites and see what works for you. One thing's for sure: no matter how hot it is outside, these dream cremes, super sprays, and styling essentials will keep you looking cool all season long.

Frizz-Free Curls

Embrace your natural curls like Beyonce but avoid frizz by simply adding an anti-frizz serum to your morning hair routine. "I start off by adding a bit of Sebastian Potion 9 Lite Lightweight Wearable-Treatment Styler (Available at Mouton's) to damp hair," says celebrity hairstylist Jeremy Clark, who then gently scrunches the hair while blow drying on low with a diffuser. "Don't comb it out!" he stresses. "Let it be natural and sexy."

Dorothy Braids

Sexy Dorothy

“I was dubious I could do fish tails in five minutes, but I got faster each time,” says fashion assistant Lauren Tardanico. “It’s easier with damp hair.” Apply a styler to hair and make two ponytails. Working with the left pony, split it in half. Grab a piece of hair from the side of one of thosehalves and bring it over to the other. Now grab a piece of hair from that one, swing it over to the other half and pull tight. Continue all the way down and tie the end. Repeat on the right side.

Mouton's recommends using a mousse like Sebastian's Mousse Forte. It has a strong hold which for this look can be applied to dry hair to add hold for the braids. Perfection is not the key here, this is a fun summer look!

Summer Friendly Hair

Glam up your ponytail.

Don’t let it just hang there—switch it up like Kate Hudson did. Separate the tail into two sections and twist them together about halfway down. Tie on a hair elastic, step back and shamelessly admire your handiwork.

Hair Trends for 2009

Mouton Salon - Wednesday, May 13, 2009
Try out some hottest hairstyles of 2009 like bob with brow length bangs. The basics are that most of these hairstyles are inspired from celebrity’s hairstyles. So go ahead and experiment with the hairstyles for 2009. If you have longer hair and you do not want to go for a major hairstyle change, then go for the all time favorite ponytail hairstyle. This hairstyle is easy, casual and elegant at the same time.
2009 Hairstyles

One of the top trends of 2009 hairstyles is the razor cut bob where the hair drops to the shoulders. Side parts and zigzag effects compliment this hairstyle. Enhance it further with glittery hair picks and beaded accessories.

The short shag from hairstyle 2009 would be fine for women who want to look amazing. This hairstyle works with most hair types and styling is easy too. The wavy shag hairstyle is also one of the hottest hairstyles of 2009 for women with curly hair. It gives you a sexy look provided your hair is not too thin.

Fashion 2009

Accessorizing in 2009
By Devin Clark

A new year means new trends, and this year, its all about the accessories! Anyone knows that adding a necklace, earrings, a scarf, or a hat to any outfit can take your look to a whole new level.  Accessorizing is a great way to express yourself, and this year’s trends are sure to please your inner fashionista!  Here is one of my favorites for 2009.

1970’s and 1980’s Inspired Hair Accessories
If you are a fan of 1970’s fashion like I am, you will love the foreheadband! Nicole Richie and Ashlee Simpson have been spotted wearing this look.  If you are a trendsetter willing to try this, prepare to get noticed! Another great new look is headbands with feathers, lace, and big flowers.  Urbanoutfitters.com has all of these trends at affordable prices.

Bohemian Updo

Hillary's Picks: Spring 09 Beauty

Boho Updos
As much as I enjoy having long hair, there are many days I want it off my neck and out of my face. Such moments call for buns or twists, but I loathe anything that looks too dainty or mature. Happily I found loads of inspiration on the spring runways, as the models at Armani, Issa, and Max Azria all showed fabulously unfussy pinned-up hair. I’m particularly infatuated with the hippie-chic style shown at Trovata: a casual knot at the nape of the neck, embellished with two tiny twists. I also plan on trying my own version of the bohemian-glam hairstyle Nicole Richie wore to The Art of Elysium’s Heaven Gala last month. Her pinned-up baby braids remind me a bit of the boho braid, albeit a much more fashion-forward version!

Part of the reason I adore this look so much is because it’s completely casual and open to interpretation, not to mention the fact that it’s seriously easy to do! That said, I think it helps to have a little texture in your hair when you’re creating a boho updo. Try a spritz of ghd’s Sea Spray For Matte Waves ($24) on damp hair to add body and encourage waves. (On a side note: the spray was used backstage at Proenza Schouler to create the Jerry Hall-homage hair seen at the spring show!) Another way to add a little texture is with my other new obsession—Big Sexy Hair’s Volumizing Dry Shampoo ($16.95). The formula is derived from some magical combination of clay and minerals—not talc, like most dry shampoos—so the spray is complete invisible. It’s seriously amazing!
