When Teresa opened Mouton's in Grapevine in 1987, she was not simply trying to create a successful salon. She wanted to build a place where excellent hairdressing, continued education, professionalism, and genuine care would always matter.
What began with one vision has grown through 39 years, more than 500,000 services, and generations of guests and hairdressers. Along the way, Mouton's has grown with its community, embraced new techniques and technology, and continued to evolve with the industry.
But the heart of the work has remained remarkably consistent: listen carefully, do excellent work, and never lose sight of the person sitting in the chair.

Mouton's may have begun with one vision, but it has never been built by one person alone. Over the years, Bruce and Teresa have worked alongside a remarkable group of professionals-some who helped shape Mouton's during its earliest years, some who have spent decades growing with the salon, and others who are now carrying its standards into a new generation.
Our guests are part of that story, too. Some have trusted us for nearly four decades. Others first came to Mouton's through a parent, a friend, or another member of their family. Many have allowed us to be present for the everyday moments and the important ones: a first haircut, a new career, a wedding, a major change, or simply the confidence that comes from feeling like yourself again.
Buildings, styles, and technology have changed, but Mouton's has always been shaped by relationships-people teaching one another, supporting one another, and choosing to return.

Teresa founded Mouton's in 1987 with a vision for a salon built on excellent hairdressing, continued education, professionalism, and genuine care. Her influence has extended far beyond the salon: her work has been published more than 5,000 times, and she has taught thousands of hairdressers throughout her career.
Bruce met Teresa six months after she opened Mouton's and became formally involved in the business less than a year later. They were married 11 months after meeting, beginning a partnership that would shape both their lives and the future of the salon.
Before joining Mouton's, Bruce's professional experience included grocery-store management, high-end hotel management and guest services, finance, and marketing. Over the years, his responsibilities at the salon have included operations, strategy, marketing, people development, and facility management.
Teresa and Bruce have always been equal partners with very different responsibilities. Teresa has remained the creative force, educator, and founder at the heart of Mouton's. She continues to work behind the chair, bringing nearly four decades of experience, teaching, and technical perspective to the guests she serves. Bruce has helped develop the structure, strategy, people, and environment needed to support her original vision and carry it forward.
Of everything they have built together, they are most proud of the people whose lives have intersected with Mouton's-the guests who have trusted them, the professionals who have grown through the salon, and the relationships formed throughout nearly four decades.
Outside the salon, Teresa and Bruce share a love of travel and the perspective that comes from experiencing different people, places, and cultures. Their faith continues to guide many of their decisions and their understanding of leadership, responsibility, and service.
As they look toward the future, their purpose remains the same: to continue building a place where people are valued, professionals are developed, guests are genuinely cared for, and making a difference in lives is not simply a slogan, but a real and continuing possibility.

Education has been part of Mouton's from the beginning. During our 39 years, more than 250 people have come through our doors to learn, develop, and become stronger professionals.
Every stylist who joins Mouton's continues through our internal training and certification program, regardless of previous experience. This is not because we expect everyone to work or create in exactly the same way. Individual talent and perspective matter. The program gives us a shared foundation: how we consult, how we approach the technical work, how we care for the guest, and what it means to place the Mouton's name behind the finished result.
Our education goes beyond learning how to execute a haircut or formulate color. We teach our professionals to consider the whole person-their features, skin tone, natural texture, lifestyle, maintenance preferences, and how they want to feel when they leave.
The learning does not stop when the initial program is complete. Techniques change, products improve, and our guests' needs continue to evolve. Our team participates in dedicated quarterly learning experiences, along with demonstrations provided every other month by our professional manufacturing partners. These opportunities allow us to explore new techniques, deepen product knowledge, refine our work, and continue learning together.
Over time, one generation has taught the next-the stylist who trained the stylist who is now training someone else. That continuing exchange of knowledge is one of the quietest and most important parts of the Mouton's story.
